The PC Problem

As most of you are well aware, there is a campus crisis currently affecting most colleges in the United States. PC culture controls college campuses and infects the lives of our students. Kids are enrolling in college as thoughtful, rational human beings and are exiting as zombified thought-police who proclaim that every white person is inherently racist. Charlie Kirk thoroughly explains this drastic situation in his PragerU video.

The definition of ‘millennial’ has changed greatly since the year 2000. It used to represent the kids that woke up early Saturday morning to catch Loony Tunes and listened to Green Day religiously. Now, those same kids have grown up and enrolled in college, and since then, everything has changed.

Suddenly, millennials consider capitalism to be an evil force that holds them down. They see racism and sexism in every syllable and use buzzwords like ‘tolerance’ and ‘fascism’ as weapons to silence those with opinions that differ from theirs. The progressive bug has spread far and wide in America, and the millennial generation is the one being heavily indoctrinated into this movement. How can you as a millennial in college resist the tide of progressivism being thrown at you everyday?

Before I continue, I feel the need to clarify something so that my message isn’t skewed. I’m not labeling all millennials progressives, nor am I labeling all progressives as evil. I am simply preaching to those of you who say every white man is inherently racist, who do their best to silence conservatives and others they do not agree with, and who portray themselves as victims in matters of social and economic equality. I am speaking to those who have adopted the PC culture.

It’s true that there is racism and sexism today. Those things will never go away completely no matter how many laws are written to prevent them. There will always be bad people in the world, and we must learn to accept that unfortunate fact. But progressives don’t merely point out the bad guys and blame them for their actions, instead they do their best to blame an entire group for the injustices of a few. Say one corrupt cop commits a racist act. To the PC progressives, this means all cops are racist. Likewise, if Donald Trump makes an ugly comment about women, now all men are sexists. These all too common generalities are irrational responses based on emotion, as well as an attempt to silence the views of people who oppose progressives.

America was built on the principles of our inalienable rights. These rights are protected under our Constitution no matter your race, gender, sexual identity, or political ideology. That’s the beauty of this document – it doesn’t discriminate.

Tolerance is the practical application of individual liberty. The definition of tolerance is: “the ability or willingness to tolerate something, in particular the existence of opinions or behavior that one does not necessarily agree with.”

Essentially, it is the right to disagree. If we do not give others the right to disagree, how can we live as individuals?

Progressives have abandoned the ideas of natural rights and tolerance. The protests against conservative speakers are a great example of this. No matter who is speaking, the people are free to agree, disagree, attend, or not attend the event. But when protesters use force to stop somebody from speaking their mind, they are forcibly taking away that speaker’s constitutional rights. These actions do not portray the tolerance the progressives claim to champion. Instead, they show oppression and tyranny.

So how can you stand against this tide of PC culture threatening all of our individuality? The first and most important step is to understand the importance of respecting the rights of others, no matter if they agree with you politically. You have the right to disagree with them, just as they have the right to disagree with you. You all learned this in pre-school, known then as the Golden Rule: Treat others as you want to be treated.

Understand that progressives use emotional arguments to twist and hide the true meaning of their messages and conservative messages. They will scream racism or sexism at anything they don’t agree with, when 99% of the time this is far from the truth.  Instead of debating policy and the best method for running a country, they will debate the character of the people making the decisions with the intent to make them look heartless and evil. Just look at CNN’s coverage of Donald Trump if you need any proof of that.

Do not give in to this emotional marketing. Think rationally and be reasonable. Nothing can be gained by stomping on someone else’s character. We all have the same goal: A society in which people care for one another despite any differences they have between them. Behaving like the PC progressives we see today will get you nowhere. Avoid the character-attack pitfalls that this movement always reverts to by maintaining a clear head, a rational mind, and an open heart. Remember that our country was founded on the basis that every person has the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, no matter what the progressives try to tell you.
