Raining Hell from Above

Today, April 13th 2017, is a good day. Today, President Trump decided to utilize an extremely destructive weapon from our arsenal to wipe out the scum of the Earth. Today, the U.S unleashed the most powerful, non-nuclear, bomb we have upon ISIS: The GBU-43 or its nickname, “The Mother of all Bombs”.

The bomb was dropped in an effort to clear the way for extended operations in the Nangarhar province in eastern Afghanistan. The blast was intended to target ISIS personnel and structures including an extensive tunnel system. The region is also known to host the terrorist organization’s headquarters in that area.

Here is some information about the bomb itself: It weighs in at 21,000 lbs and it has a 18,700 lb explosive warhead. This bomb is guided by satellite and was created to replace the unguided “daisy cutter” used in previous wars. It has an immense blast radius which is why it was designated to take out the high concentration of ISIS fighters in the area.

General John W. Nicholson, the commander of U.S. Forces in Afghanistan describes:

“As (Islamic State Khurasan’s) losses have mounted, they are using IEDs, bunkers and tunnels to thicken their defense… This is the right munition to reduce these obstacles and maintain the momentum of our offensive against ISIS-K.”

It was estimated that 600-800 fighters were expected to be in the area the bomb was designated to be dropped in.

The decision to use the bomb may have been in a response to the death of  U.S Green Beret, Staff Sgt. Mark De Alencar, who was killed fighting ISIS forces in Afghanistan on April 8th, 2017.

It seems that Trump has fulfilled the campaign promise he made when he promised that “[He] would bomb the s*** out of them.”
