Obamacare: Hurdling Over the Cliff and Dragging America with it

Democrats now admit that Obama’s signature legislation, the Affordable Care Act, is fatally flawed. Under the Act, nicknamed “Obamacare,” Americans are facing skyrocketing premiums, fewer choices, and less coverage. This is no longer a partisan debate.

The Department of Health and Human Services warns that one in five consumers will only have one insurer to choose from under Obamacare. Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel, a key author of the Affordable Care Act told CNN, “There’s a million people for whom this is going to be severe — or uncomfortable.”

Numbers released by the Obama Administration confirms that those insured under the Act will see premium increases of at least 25% nationwide. Arizona will see premiums spike as high as 74.50% while New York’s increases will hit highs of 80.50% over 2017.

In response to these soaring costs, President Obama insists, “I have nothing to do with that,” calling the situation “complicated.” Our health care has hit a fatal breaking point, threatening hardworking Americans with premiums they can’t pay and deductibles they will never meet.

Where do we go from here?

House Bill 2300, the Empowering Patients First Act, is the healthcare we deserve. The bill maintains universal coverage, increases competition across state lines, provides liability reform that will cut the cost of defensive medicine and creates alternatives for the health care of our veterans.  The Bill is authored by Congressman Tom Price, a surgeon from Georgia.

“The Empowering Patients First Act puts patients, families and doctors in charge by focusing on the principles of affordability, accessibility, quality, innovation, choices and responsiveness. The solutions in the Act will get Washington out of the way while protecting and strengthening the doctor-patient relationship.” – Rep. Tom Price, M.D. (GA-06)

It’s no secret: We cannot afford Obamacare. There is no reason to subject the American people to an unwieldy, unsustainable Federal mandate any longer. We must repeal and replace Obamacare before it not only bankrupts us, but our future generations as well.
